This is a five-lecture course on the basics of RenderMan which I teach four times
a year at
Gnomon School of Visual Effects in
Hollywood, CA. These notes are primarily intended for use by students
who attend
the course, but I'm making them available for a wider audience by leaving these
web pages up (almost) all the time.
The first two classes deal with the
'back end' RenderMan - RIB files, shader writing. The last three have to do with using
RenderMan with a Maya front-end - MTOR, Slim and global illumination. See the 'Notes'
section for (rather sketchy) class notes.
